Why Is Skin Cancer Risk Elevated at Higher Altitudes?

نویسندگان

چکیده

One of the strongest risk factors for skin cancer is direct exposure to sun. Sunlight emits ultraviolet (UV) radiation, which can damage DNA cells in our bodies. UV causes mutations DNA, and these accumulated lead cancer. Melanin a pigment present that gives its color. also helps protect against radiation sun damage. In addition protective effects skin, most damaging from filtered out by Earth’s atmosphere. However, at higher altitudes, there less atmospheric filtering radiation. Therefore, increased high explains regions with elevation.

Respiration at High Altitudes *

It has been clearly recognized that a low barometric pressure, when first encountered, may interfere with the normal workings of the human machine, but that later by compensatory responses the body may become adapted to the new conditions. The outstanding variable encountered in ascents to high altitudes by airplane, dirigible, free balloon, or mountaineering is the tenuousness of the atmospher...
